Clearance™ Capture Chrome
Before you begin
Before capturing evidence using Genetec
ensure the following:
- You have installed
- You have associated Genetec
Clearance™ Capture with a
Genetec Clearance™ account to upload media
to that account.
- You have verified that you have an active internet connection.
What you should know
To use the Genetec
Clearance™ Capture Google Chrome extension you
must have Google Chrome browser version 59 or later.
You can use Genetec
do the following:
- Capture evidence screenshots from websites and social media and add them
directly to your Genetec Clearance™
- Add evidence captures to existing cases or as standalone files.
- Each capture contains the evidence screenshot
and metadata information for the page.
- Two screen capture modes are supported: FULL PAGE and
To capture evidence using Genetec
In Google Chrome, enter a URL or navigate to the website or page where you want
to capture evidence.
In the Google Chrome toolbar, click the Genetec
Clearance™ Capture icon ().
Select a host environment (as detailed in your account activation email) from
the drop-down menu and click Login.
TIP: You can determine your environment by checking the URL that you
normally use to access Genetec Clearance™.
On the Login page, enter your email address and click
You are redirected to your user account’s sign-in page.
(Optional) Select an account if required.
(Optional) In the Select a Case (Optional) field, search
for and select a case.
You can search for Title, Record number, incident number, text in the case,
and tags. You can scroll through search results when there are two or more
In the CAPTURE MODE section, select either
FULL PAGE or VISIBLE
Captures the complete website page.
Captures only the visible area of the website page. You can
reduce the size of your browser tab and move around the page to only capture the content
that is visible in the resized browser tab.
Click CAPTURE EVIDENCE ().
Ensure that the Chrome extension remains open on this
browser tab until the capture process completes. The capturing icon (
displayed while a capture is in progress.
The following example shows a FULL PAGE capture
compared with a VISIBLE PAGE capture.
- If you selected a case, the captured evidence and metadata is added to the
selected case and a Case ID # link () is displayed in
the CAPTURE INFO section.
- If a case was not selected, the captured evidence and metadata is added as a
file and a Evidence ID # link () is
displayed in the CAPTURE INFO section.
After you finish
You can click the Case or Evidence Link and then click
View details to see additional file metadata.
